Getting around by bus on the Côte d’Azur!

If you don’t have a car, the bus is an economical alternative!

Lots of bus companies operate on the Côte d’Azur. The Zou! regional express lines will allow you to travel between the main towns on the Côte d’Azur. You’ll find all the itineraries and schedules on zou.maregionsud.fr. Côte d’Azur bus networks also offer plenty of interurban and inter-village connections. In the Alpes-Maritimes, visit the website www.lignedazur.com and in the Var www.varlib.fr. From Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, tramway line 2 will take you to the centre of Nice in 30 minutes. By opting for the Ticket Azur, travel at the single fare rate of €1.50 throughout the network (bus and tramway). You can buy your tickets in agencies, on buses, at ATMs and from authorised dealers. As far as cost is concerned, opt for a 10-trip booklet for €10 or a 1-day pass for €5.

Travelling by train on the Côte d’Azur!

The train: the quickest option!

Most of the coastal towns on the Côte d’Azur have an SNCF train station. There are regular services with, at certain times of the day, a train every half hour. Let yourself be carried away while enjoying the landscape! The Regional Express Trains (TER) quickly connect all the major towns on the Côte d’Azur between Hyères and Menton via Monaco. Consult the schedules on the SNCF website. Good idea for families, choose the Pass Isabelle. This pass, on sale all year round, allows families (2 adults and 2 children) unrestricted travel for one day for €35! Also worth discovering: the Train des Merveilles which connects Nice to Tende and the Train des Pignes which connects Nice to Dignes-les-Bains.

You can get around without a car on the Côte d’Azur by combining bus and train.

Travelling by car on the Côte d’Azur!

All the major car hire companies are present in the main Côte d’Azur towns as well as at the major train stations and Nice Côte d’Azur and Toulon-Hyères airports. The main traffic route on the Côte d’Azur is the A8 motorway. Parking is generally charged from Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 7pm. Many car parks and parking meters are at your disposal, day and night, allowing you to visit sites and monuments at your own pace. As an indication, the average hourly rate is €1.50 for parking meters and €2 to €3 for car parks. Good parking idea: 10 car parks in Nice, 18 car parks in Cannes and 40 car parks in the Principality of Monaco offer 1 hour free parking.

Travelling by taxi on the Côte d’Azur!

All the major cities on the Côte d’Azur have taxi services, particularly from railway stations and airports. The taxi ranks are indicated in the city by a blue sign « TAXI ». Travelling by bike!

A new way to get around as the fancy takes you and discover all the richness of the Côte d’Azur!

Do you have a bike? The Côte d’Azur is ideal for this gentle mode of travel. Between Alpes-Maritimes and Var, there are a large number of discovery routes and cycle paths, such as the coastal cycle path which links Toulon to Lavandou almost continuously, Cavalaire to Sainte-Maxime, and Cannes to Nice on the « La Méditerranée à vélo route ».

VNo bike? In Nice, with its 125 km of cycle tracks, enjoy the vélos bleus! 175 stations throughout the area (one bicycle station every 300 metres) provide 1,750 bicycles 24/7 365 days a year. There are several options depending on whether you are an occasional or regular user.

Travel by helicopter on the Côte d’Azur!

Another way of discovering the Côte d’Azur from the air…

The Côte d’Azur has 3 main heliports: Nice Airport, Cannes and Monaco. These heliports offer regular connections between the 3 cities as well as to Saint-Tropez and the Isola 2000 ski resort. The services are operated by specialist companies such a Azur Hélicoptère, Monacair, Héli Air Monaco or Héli Sécurité. Travelling by boat on the Côte d’Azur

Enjoy the beauty of the Côte d’Azur’s landscapes from the sea…

A boat is a pleasant but also very practical way of discovering the Côte d’Azur. Several types of seagoing services exist. They connect Toulon harbour, the ports on Golfe de Saint-Tropez, Saint-Raphaël, Cannes and Nice. In particular, check with the tourist offices for information on crossings. Regular connections to Iles de Lérins from Cannes as well as Juan-les-Pins, Golfe-Juan, Mandelieu, Nice and Théoule-sur-Mer are possible. The Îles d’Hyères are also accessible by boat from Toulon, Hyères, La Londe, Le Lavandou and Cavalaire. In summer, the Estérel sea shuttle Estérel sea shuttle runs between Théoule-sur-Mer andCannes.
