Vallon forestier de l'Anguille

Forest, Valley / glen in La Londe-les-Maures

  • Forest valley located in the Vanades Canton, in the Massif des Maures.

  • This relatively well-preserved forest sector is very representative of the plant diversity of the Maures massif with its heather maquis, strawberry trees, cork oaks, maritime pines, complemented by a plantation of umbrella pines planted by the O.N.F.

It is full of vestiges and buildings that bear witness to the farming practised until the middle of the 20th century.

Cork oaks bear the mark of several harvests that fed the local butcher's shops.

The "de la Cigale" hut, which used to house shepherds and "bouscatiers" working in these hills, has been home to hikers and hunters since its restoration in 2006.
At the start of the RD88, 1 km on the "piste de l'Anguille", then 1.3 km on the contiguous trail on the left.
