Musée de préhistoire Régionale

Th e Regional prehistory Museum of Menton

Museum, History, Museum of France, Municipal museum in Menton
  • The first museum in the town of Menton was created in 1878. The natural history and archaeology collection, as it was created by its first curator Stanislas Bonfils, is still to be found in the current museum and shows the evolution of the lifestyle of prehistoric men in the Alpes-Maritimes region, as well as in the regions of Provence and Liguria.

  • The history and more recent traditions of Menton are retraced through reconstructions of interiors (kitchen and bedroom), traditional objects from the cultivation of lemons, olives and fishing, to go back to the heart of the history of man on the Mediterranean coast for a million years. Collections of objects discovered in the archaeological sites of the region.
