Built at the end of the 19th century at the request of the Swiss hotelier Joseph Widmer on the southern slope of the Annonciade hill, the building still displays numerous architectural artefacts combining frescoes and ceramic decorations made by the local craftsmen/creators of the time.

Its garden, whose plant inventory is as exotic as it is endemic, is home to a hundred-year-old banksiae rose, a majestic Montevideo guava tree (Feijoa) and a plantation of citrus trees, historic trees of the Menton region. A beautiful collection of palm trees, still well preserved, still attests to the lively plant eclecticism of the Côte d'Azur during the Belle Époque.
