Pont du Coq

Pont du Coq

Historic site and monument, Engineering structure, Bridge, Town of Art & History, 15th C in La Brigue

  • The name of the Rooster Bridge, a translation of the local dialect and Italian, remains mysterious, as are the historical origins of its construction. It does not seem to predate the 15th century, when a mule route was used to pass on the Italian side. The originality of the work comes from its bent layout, probably dictated by technical imperatives related to the nature of the soils. It rests on a steep left bank and on the right bank much less steep.
