Musée de la Gendarmerie et du Cinéma

Museum, Arts and culture, Photography and cinema, Municipal museum in Saint-Tropez

  • The Gendarmerie and Film Museum invites you to explore the history of this building which, before becoming an iconic location following the shooting of the films about the French police, housed the Saint-Tropez brigade from 1879 to 2003.

  • On the first floor, the public can see an exact reconstruction of the offices of the Saint-Tropez police force, with police lockers and colour codes identical to the originals. The evolution of the police corps since the 19th century is also addressed, with archival documents concerning the creation of the French police force, service weapons of the time and, of course, film clips.

In addition to this exhibition, there is a 1950s cinema hall with artists' dedications and a life-size bronze sculpture of Louis de Funès, which lead to a cinema where film extracts and interviews with artists are played.

The floor which follows is also full of surprises, with a reconstruction of the Nationale 7, a space dedicated to the world of culture and celebration from the 1950s to the present day, and finally the dressing rooms of Brigitte Bardot and Romy Schneider. What a way to round things off...in style!

The museum's ground floor contains a space dedicated to temporary exhibitions.
