Located in the heart of Old Mougins in a completely renovated mediaeval home (400m²), the Classical Art Museum of Mougins aims to display Ancient, Neoclassical, Modern and Contemporary art in a single venue to illustrate the tremendous influence of the Ancient world on Classical and Contemporary creation.

On four levels, the Museum strives to illustrate the interaction between the civilizations of Egypt, Greece and Rome and the persistence of the Graeco-Roman heritage to the present.

This innovative museographic concept differs from standard chronological presentations in showing the exchanges between these civilizations from East to West.

Throughout the visit, such remarkable Ancient works as Graeco-Italian vases, colossal statues of the Roman Emperor Hadrian and Empress Domitia, a delicate bronze figure of Heracles dialoguing with some one hundred drawings, paintings and sculptures by Paul Cézanne, Marc Chagall, Michel-Martin Drolling, Antony Gormley, Damien Hirst, Henri Matisse and Marc Quinn.

This private initiative also enables Mougins to evoke its artistic past with works in the Museum such Modern artists as Francis Picabia, Jean Cocteau, Man Ray and Pablo Picasso, who actually lived in the old Village.
