    In all of Genet's plays there is a genuine sense of danger that captivates us, just as accidents and scenes of violence in the street can have a morbid pull on us. In Les Bonnes, this feeling is all the stronger because Genet was inspired by a sordid news item: that of the Papin sisters who brutally murdered their bosses in Le Mans in 1933.
