After an initial exploration of the theme of spells and enchantments, the Musée Jean Cocteau-le Bastion is unveiling a new exhibition as part of its series on the artist's "castles" - castles as many manifestations of the multiple facets of his incredibly rich and abundant universe.
This new exhibition, devised by Dominique Marny and Anne-Gaële Duriez, takes visitors beyond the looking glass, into a Bastion transformed for the occasion into a "castle of mysteries", guided by the initiatory figures that are a feature of the poet's work - Orpheus, Oedipus, but also angels and astrologers, and even enigmatic and elusive extraterrestrials...
A wide selection of drawings, paintings, photographs, film extracts, posters and objets d'art from the museum's own collections and on loan, presented in a new scenography designed by Frédéric Beauclair, will take visitors on a journey to the heart of these Cactalian mysteries.
The exhibition coincides with the sixtieth anniversary of the poet's death, and pays tribute to him in the museum that he himself conceived as a testament to his inimitable work.
