Arrived in Saint Paul ateliers in 2017, around an aesthetic that mixes Japanese refinement with a powerful sense of contemporary, Caroline Mollanger is a genuine local, with a commitment to the area that runs deep and goes way back.

A motion - rich life, a passion for meditation and the impermanence of things and a love - filled heart with a deep curiosity for the Alterity have informed a singular artistic path.

It is in Japan that her project crystalized: paint the instant and try to communicate what the Essence is. Receiving a formal training on several fundamentals of Asian art (Sumi-e and Shodo), she gave her intuitive drive a newborn technical confidence.

Her monochromatic and environmental friendly work today is a seamless and confident blend of her multiple lives and convictions. But mostly and above all, her art is an exclamation, a matured, prepared and meditated gesture that climaxes in a choreography that transcends her paintings. As a luxury minimalistic bento, her workshop exposes her creations around à semisecret cube in which every day, she rehearses and repeats this partition gracious and strong, from the ink ceremonial to the finishing of her work, entirely crafted with either Japanese or local materials. With her bridging both worlds.
