Based on the novel Alabama Song, Prix Goncourt 2007 (éditions Mercure de France)
Prix Goncourt 2007, the novel Alabama Song, by Gilles Leroy, brings the flamboyant destiny of Zelda Fitzgerald to a frenzied pace. Figure of the 1920s, the latter burns her life by both ends, fights against a husband who, under the spotlight, makes her his muse and, in the shadow, monopolizes the literary matter of his diaries. She will dance until the wound, experience the glory and the scandalous Parisian evenings, then the decay. A woman with a thousand faces: beautiful, fascinating but childlike, talented and looted novelist, admiring her husband. Zelda is fond of freedom, dance, life, and music. On the burned floor of a ballroom or psychiatric asylum, her modern and complex voice is accompanied by three musicians who improvise a jazz of the 20s (1920 and 2020), in a chase in her image: tense, fleshy, captivating.

The opinion of the Artistic Director
The avant-garde struggle of a woman who chose to live her life at 100 per hour rather than burn herself to death. A great spectacle, full of vitality, uncertainties, tremors, and from which we do not emerge unscathed. Lola Naimark camped a Zelda of great strength of character. Alabama Song, a resounding success at the Théâtre de la Tempête, at the Cartoucherie de Vincennes when the play was created in January 2022, will fascinate audiences who are still curious about Scène55 and who will also be sensitive to musical score.
