WORLD’S NO. 1 JAZZ FESTIVAL

Nice Jazz Festival: legendary place where the memory of jazz is created!

In February 1948, after the Carnival, the city of Nice created the first jazz festival in the world. Louis Armstrong & The All Stars, Django Reinhardt, Yves Montant and other emblematic characters of the time gathered for the very first time in Nice, the capital of the Côte d’Azur. At the time, the event was divided between the Nice Opera House and the Municipal Casino on Place Masséna (where the water mirror is today) ending in style at Hôtel Negresco.

THE MYTHICAL ERA OF THE ARÈNES DE CIMIEZ

The Nice Jazz Festival filled the Arènes de Cimiez gardens with sound!

Between 1974 and 2010, the Nice Jazz Festival, called for a while La Grande Parade, filled the Arènes de Cimiez with sound. The more nostalgic miss the place and the festive atmosphere that reigned there. Admittedly, access was more complicated but its magical setting contributed to the popularity of the event. Since 2011, the Nice Jazz Festival has returned to Nice city centre and is now divided between the Masséna temporary stage especially created in Jardin Albert 1er) and the Théâtre de Verdure.

THE BLIND PASS FOR THE NICE JAZZ FESTIVAL

A great way to enjoy the 5 evenings of Nice Jazz Festival!

Every year, the city of Nice and the Nice Jazz Festival offer the possibility of obtaining limited edition « blind » seats. Called the Blind Pass, the precious open sesame is usually available from the end of the festival until the official announcement of the next festival program. Costing €99, it gives access to the 2 stages during the 5 evenings of the Nice Jazz Festival and offers the opportunity to attend the concerts of 30 national and international artists.
